Ghana was selected to be part of the countries to host a free concert dubbed “Global Citizen festivals,2022. “The festival which happened concurrently in Accra and New York City was a blast.
The musical festival geared towards raising funds, celebrating 10 years of social impact globally, and creating awareness of the “End Poverty Now,” campaign was supported by Hollywood stars, Grammy-award-winning artists, and government officials including our very own President Nana AkuffoAddo who graced the occasion with his presence on Saturday night at the Black Star Square.
On 26th September, thousands of Ghanaians danced and chanted alongside performances by American R&B singer Usher Raymond IV, British rapper Stormzy, Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy, Nigerian singer Tem’s Baby, and more.
The atmosphere at the concert was full of excitement as people swayed their hands left and right going according to the beat of the music.
Many Ghanaians were impressed with the live concert as some shared their experience as the “best concert ever held in Ghana since independence.”
The Global Citizen festivals in Accra and New York City announced over $ 8 million to empower girls, defeat poverty, defend the planet, promote health, protect civic space and mitigate the global food crisis.
